Gretna Anne (Thomas) Renner, 94, formerly of Anderson, currently of New Castle died November 13, 2018 after a brief illness.
Gretna was born June 25, 1924 in Morristown, IN, the daughter of Kern and Maude (Unger) Thomas.
She was the "Voice of Guide Lamp" working as switchboard operator for 43 years before retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the Elks Lodge # 209, JayShees, Tri Kappa Sorority and Indiana State Roller skating Association called "Ayers Cadets". She loved to roller skate and went to the Indiana State and National Pair Championship three times and won Pair Skating Championship in Canada
Gretna is survived by her daughter, Belita (Mike) Hardwick of New Castle; two grandchildren, Bryan (Tammy) Hornbeck and Lori (Steve) Dunn all of Anderson; great- granddaughter, Cali Anne Hornbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gilbert Neal Renner died on September 22, 2018, sister, Ruth Stephenson and a niece, Melanie Smith.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark of Chesterfield Christian Church officiating.
Entombment will be in East Maplewood Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 12 -2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
