Alan C. Sims, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, November 12, 2018, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Friday, November 16, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mahan officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Sims was born May 12, 1953, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to Betty Reeves Sims of Fitzgerald and the late Davis C. Sims. He was a 1971 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and received his associate’s degree from Southern Tech. He was a former resident of Buford and Valdosta and an electrical engineer for Georgia Power. Mr. Sims was a master scuba instructor and he enjoyed parachuting, motorcycles, working on CB radios and carpentry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Reeves Sims of Fitzgerald; sister, Vicki Harris of Fitzgerald; niece and nephew: Pam Lowery & Teddy of Bowdon and Chip Harris & Clara of Richmond Hill; great nieces and nephews: Taylor Morgan, Tanner Langley, Carl Harris, III, Evan Harris, Alina Harris and Amelia Harris.
