John Wesley Hodnett, age 75, passed away on November 8, 2018 at the Vidant Edgecombe Hospital of Tarboro, NC.
Mr. Hodnett was born on November 22, 1942 to John Randolph Hodnett and Ethel Graham Hodnett in Irwin County, GA. John was in law enforcement for twenty plus years before retiring as police chief in Scotland Neck in 1998. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew him. John was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing every chance he had. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and loved his basset hounds.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Lee Hodnett.
John is survived by his daughter, Lorryssa “Lori” Robinson and husband David of Nashville, NC; two brothers, Carl Robert Hodnett and wife Sybil of Griffin, GA, and James Patrick Hodnett and wife Judy of Ocillo, GA; grandson, Marcus Watkins, and great-granddaughter, Aurora Dawes.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service, Scotland Neck, NC. A graveside service will be in Ocilla Cemetery in Ocilla, GA at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 15, 2018.
