Viola Leverett Hamilton, 79, of Tifton passed away Monday, November 12, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Mrs. Hamilton will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Lee Leverett, Jesse Leverett, Stacy Leverett, Ethan Leverett, David Craft and Butch Brown will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 2, 1939 in Lumber City (Wheeler County), Mrs. Hamilton was the daughter of the late Johnnie Robert Leverett and Gladys Mae Evans Leverett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Hamilton; three brothers, Thomas Leverett, James Leverett and Melvin Leverett, who passed away at two years old; and one sister, Kate Castleberry. She was a homemaker and loved her grandkids. She loved to fish and had lived in Tifton most of her life.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Ellis and Malinda Hamilton of Fitzgerald; five step-daughters, Barbara White and Dee Dee Hamilton, both of Fitzgerald, Elaine Pate of Arabi, Faye Cooper of Tifton and Jacqueline Eaton of Adel; one brother, Harold Leverett of Adel; one sister, Irene Spires of Adel; and four grandchildren, Michael Hamilton, Ryan Hamilton, Briana Cowan and Chandler Cowan.
