Irene M. (Rolfe) Currier, age 70, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three loving daughters on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
Born in Boston, MA on July 19, 1948, she was a loving daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Crowley) Rolfe.
Irene grew up in the Dorchester and Hyde Park neighborhoods of Boston and was educated in Boston Public Schools. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past forty years and prior to retiring had been employed as a rebate analyst at Covidien in Mansfield for twenty-five years.
Affectionately known by all who knew and loved her as “Auntie Rene”, she treasured the times spent with her adoring family and was truly an outstanding grandmother and great grandmother. Irene also enjoyed crocheting and Friday night bingo at St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters: Anne M. Johnson and her husband Mark of Mansfield, Michele L. Currier of Mansfield and Tracey E. Brown and her husband Michael of Attleboro. She was the longtime companion of Thomas “Papa” Sullivan of Revere. She was the cherished grandmother of Adam Contee, Brittanee Johnson, Chelsee Brown, Jacob Brown and great grandmother of Skylar Contee and Xavier Contee. She was the dear sister of Edward Rolfe of Carver, Dorothy Slaughter of Boston, the late Eleanor Broderick, John Rolfe and Charles Rolfe, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 14th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Irene’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Road #200, Framingham, MA 01701.
