Obituary

Lois Smith Parsons, 100, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, November 9, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Elder Jamey Tucker and Ken Hall, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, from 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parsons was born August 16, 1918, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to the late John Singleton & Cynthia Louise “Lula” Gunter Smith. She lived in the community most of her life and was an inspector for Monarch and Irwin Manufacturing. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children and grandchildren. One summer, Mrs. Parsons sewed 30 dresses. She was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.

She is survived by her three daughters: Martha P. Justice of Fitzgerald, Frances P. Hall & Kenneth of Tifton and Linda P. Tucker & G.M. of Irwin County; 7 grandchildren: Wallace Justice, Connie Fairchild, Larry B. Justice, Ken Hall, Jr. & Lisa, Ira Tucker & Holly, Jamey Tucker & Jessica and Terry Tucker & Stacie, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Zebedee Parsons and 15 brothers and sisters.
