Mary Faith Wilson Evans, 94, of Griffin, formerly of Tifton, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Evans at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate.
Born November 8, 1923 in Ocilla, Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Jimmy Wilson and Maggie Lewis Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W. Cecil Evans, who she married in 1941; one daughter, Cecilia Ann Evans Waldrop; and two granddaughters. Before retiring, she worked with her husband at Evans Men’s and Boy’s Shop in Tifton. She was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church and a member of the Tifton Garden Club. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Mrs. Evans is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Jerry W. Walker of Griffin; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
