Ferrell “Kermitt” Brooks, 88, of Acworth, formerly of Tifton, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Mr. Brooks will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, November 9, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born October 14, 1930 in Turner County, Mr. Brooks was the son of the late John Brooks and Rebecca Rycroft Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lenazelle “Lena” York Brooks. He retired from Eastern Airlines and was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a Shriner and a Mason for 50 years at Kennesaw Mountain and Albany Hassan Temples. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a special Deputy Sheriff in Bartow County for 40 years.
Mr. Brooks is survived by one son, David F. Brooks of Acworth; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Debbie Kerr of Magnolia, Texas, Kathy and Dennis Whiten, Audrey and Bill Segers and Kim Blevins, all of Acworth and Angie and Jimmy Payne of Lyman, South Carolina; two sisters, Jackie Baker and Mary Allen, both of Tallahassee, Florida; five grandchildren, Buck, Brooke, Amanda, Hunter and Danielle; and five great-grandchildren, Drew, Stone, Alison, Noah and Wesley.
