Obituary

Malcolm Winford Cornett, 80, of Ventura, CA passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 6, 2018. Malcolm was born to Owen W. and Gladys E. Cornett on July 16, 1938 in Barnett, Missouri. When Malcolm was 2 years old, his family moved to CA. Malcolm is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Ann Cornett; his sister Charlotte Herrick, husband Frank; and his brother, Owen J Cornett; his children: Rhonda Briggs, husband David, and Rodney Cornett; his grandchildren: Melissa Cornett, Tamara Macnaughton, Zachary Cornett and Kyndle Macnaughton; four great grandchildren, and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Malcolm attended Ventura High School before enlisting in the Navy and proudly served on the USS CROOK COUNTY and the USS KAWISHIWI. Malcolm was a carpenter by trade until enjoying retirement. Malcolm was involved in a number of fraternal organizations and enjoyed volunteering whenever possible. For many years, Malcolm delivered Meals on Wheels, ran Bingo at the Elks Lodge, and provided transportation for Veterans to facilities in Los Angeles. To sum Malcolm up, 'It's my way or the highway'. Malcolm was loved by many, disliked by some, and remembered by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or your favorite charity. Per his request, there will be no official service.
