Thomas Francis Dunphy, age 88, of Lake Lure, NC, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center in Rutherfordton, NC. He was a native of Providence, RI and the son of the late John Joseph Dunphy and the late Mary Josephine (McCaffrey) Dunphy. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Forest City, NC and a US Navy veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951-1954. Thomas started his career as a lithographer in 1954 and remained in the printing business for over forty eight years. He was a devout catholic and supported the church in various activities. He was an avid football fan of the University of Notre Dame and the New England Patriots and a baseball fan of the Boston Red Sox. He loved to build model airplanes. Thomas was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty seven years Frances Elizabeth Dunphy. He also had two brothers; James "Jim" Henry Dunphy and John Edward "Sonny" Dunphy, two sisters; Hazel Mary (Dunphy) Dennehy and Virginia "Ginny" Kathleen Dunphy.

A Rosary will be said Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:00pm at McMahan's Funeral Home, North Carolina, followed by the visitation from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held in North Carolina at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 with Father Herbert Burke, Reverend Mr. Andrew Cilone and Reverend Mr. David Faunce officiating. Military honors will be given by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Interment with Military Honors will be Saturday at 9:30am in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston, RI.
