Obituary

In Middleboro, November 4, 2018, Teresina “Tessie” A. Brennan, Age 96, passed away in the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home following a brief illness. Tessie was the wife of the late Joseph F. Brennan. She was born in Dobbs Ferry, NY, the daughter of the late Nicholas & Mary (Tino) Posca and the late Peter Tino. Tessie attended Taunton schools and was a 1940 graduate of Taunton High School. She worked many jobs throughout her life, while raising her four children, after being widowed at the age of 40. Tessie worked until her retirement as a dining room attendant at the Paul A. Dever State School. She was a member of the AARP Council on Aging and a communicant of both St. Mary’s Church and the former Sacred Heart Church in Taunton. Tessie enjoyed art lessons, line dancing, took many memorable trips with her family to Washington DC, Florida, and with friends Rita Sousa and Marilyn Logan to N.Y., the Catskills, Atlantic City. She especially enjoyed her trip to Disney World in Orlando with her grandson, Christopher when he was ten years old. Tessie had many friends throughout her lifetime with whom she went on trips to Cape Cod, singing all the way. Most recently, she and her friend Alice, who passed last December, and her friend Ruth would go shopping everywhere and they would singing in the car. When she moved to the Hanna B. G. Shaw Home, she immediately loved living there. The staff is so kind and loving. During her four years living there, Tessie joined the Hanna Chorus, where they got together every Thursday. Twice a year they would have a concert and invite family and friends. They would always end their concert with the song “Forever Young”. She loved the trips to Twin Rivers Casino where she won $40.00! She also enjoyed outings to various restaurants, and going out for ice cream, there were musical entertainers, games, cook outs and we can’t forget BINGO! Tessie is survived by her children, Carol Brennan Wilbur and her husband Donald of Middleboro, William Brennan and his late wife, Jayne Ceurvels Brennan of Taunton, Barbara Brennan Turinese and her husband David of Attleboro and Robert Brennan and his wife Cheryl Cummings Brennan of Raynham, her grandchildren; Christopher Park of Rochester, MA, Lisa Turinese Consigli and her husband Daniel, Elizabeth Turinese Kaes and her husband Stephen both of Boynton Beach, FL, Matthew Brennan of San Diego, CA, Kevin Brennan and his wife Kim of Lakeville, and Nicholas Brennan of New Hampshire, Joseph Brennan and Liam Brennan of Raynham and step grandchildren; Debra Wilbur Muenier and husband Steve of Taunton, David and Bonnie Wilbur of Norwich, CT and the late John J. Wilbur of San Diego, CA., Great Grandmother of Kaden, Kole and Kollin Brennan of Lakeville and Alexander Kaes of Boynton Beach, FL. Step Great Grandmother of Lauren Muenier of Taunton, Lindsey Grady and her husband Zachary of Taunton and Rhiannon Wilbur of Norwich, CT. Tessie also leaves her long-time friend of Rita Sousa and Ruth Ponte. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Saturday, November 10th at 9am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha & Mary Church in Lakeville at 10am. Relatives and friends are also invited to Visiting hours on Friday from 4-7pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Tessie’s memory to the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, 299 Wareham St. Middleborough, MA 02346.
