Harry S. Hanson, 81, of Natick, MA died November 3, 2018. Harry was born in Middletown, CT November 7, 1936. He graduated high school in Meriden and received a BA from the University of Connecticut. He completed graduate studies at the University of Hartford and Wesleyan University, receiving a Masters in Education and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies.
Harry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Hanson (Milner), two children, Eric Hanson of Lawrence, MA and Tara Hanson of Haverhill, MA, and a sister Linda Hanson of West Hartford, CT. He also leaves behind a brother in law and sister in law, Ed and Paula Sindoni and several nieces and nephews.
Harry was an avid reader of history, which he taught for many years at the high school and college levels. His career in education included teaching Western Civilization at Mount Ida Junior College in Newton, MA and directing the Evening Division at Fisher Junior College in Boston. He later became a district executive for the Boy Scouts from which he retired.
Harry was a gifted artist and public speaker. His creative talents included pen and ink sketches, woodcarvings, and architectural drawings he did for his personal enjoyment and for family. He won awards for oratory and debate and enjoyed using these skills to share his passion for learning.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and those times will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of John Everett & Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held prior to service 11:30 A.M.-12:45 P.M. in the funeral home.
