Obituary

Elaine E. (Johnson) Hayes age 72 of Brockton died on October 31, 2018 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital after a lengthy courageous battle with SPS (Stiff Person Syndrome). Elaine was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana and adopted by the late Claude and Mary (Henry) Johnson. She was raised in Boston and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School.

Elaine was very proud of working in the nursing profession as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed caring for the elderly in local nursing homes including the Embassy House (Now known as the Brockton Health Center) and the Braemoor Health Center until she became disabled and had to resign in 2011.

It was very fitting that Elaine died on Halloween because she embraced the paranormal. Her family said that she could feel the presence of a spirit and had no fear. Elaine’s mother in law whom she was very close with and cared for Francis Hayes had passed away on the same day five years previous.

Elaine loved to sing and growing up in Boston she had been a member of the Concord Baptist Church Choir and during her time singing she also sang with LaDonna Gaines who was known as Donna Summer. Elaine will be remembered as a very caring and giving lady always compassionate and empathetic. She will be missed by all her family and many friends.

Elaine was the loving mother of Keith Hayes and his wife Dawn of Brockton and Kevin Hayes of Taunton. She was the cherished grandmother of Tyrique and Terrell Hayes, Brianna Rosa, India Soto, Lisindra, Ryan & Haylee Beeson, Jocelyn Pray & great grandmother of Markie Parece. She also leaves her brother Ronald Johnson and his wife Albie of Weston; partner Allen Kingsbury of Brockton; first husband William R. Hayes and his wife Joan of Worcester and a large family combined with a host of friends & co-workers.

A Celebration of Elaine’s Life will be held on November 17, 2018 at the Brockton VFW, 283 North Quincy Street, from 12-4pm.
