Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Barbara A. (Tareila) Bowden, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for 56 years, passed away with her family by her side, at the Lowell General Hospital on Friday, November 2, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Bowden, with whom she celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 9, 2018.
Born in Lowell on January 15, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George Tareila and Alice (Marshall)(Tareila) Haas.
Barbara was raised in the Wigginville are of Lowell, attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1952.
In 1962, she and her husband moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their three children.
Barbara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening, traveling to York Beach, and the companionship of her West Highland Terrier-“Maggie Mae”.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Gary J. Bowden, Dohn A. Bowden and his wife Paula (Gamache) all of Tewksbury, and Doreen A. DuCom of Lowell. Sister of Charles Haas of Merrimack, NH. She leaves seven grandchildren, Timothy Bowden, Lisa (Bowden) Smith, Meredith Bowden, Allyson Bowden, Nicholas Bowden, Ryan DuCom and Justin DuCom. nine great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
