Catherine Marie (Fontaine) Giardini, 78, of Franklin, died November 1 in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center Worcester, after a long illness. She was the wife of Vincent E. Giardini for the past 35 years.
Born in Darby, Pennsylvania, March 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Lester and Cecile (Couture) Fontaine, Mrs. Giardini had lived in Dedham prior to moving to Franklin 56 years ago.
Catherine had been a bookkeeper for Data General Corporation for many years. She had also worked in the office at the Franklin Ice Rink and had been office manager at Silver’s Gym and had worked at the former Rico’s Supermarket in Franklin.
She loved to travel, the Patriots and Red Sox and spending her time with her children, grandchildren and her cats.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Robert F. Cardullo, Jr of Franklin, Carol M. Daddario and her husband Jack of Franklin, Thomas G. Cardullo of Franklin, Cheryl L. Doherty of Franklin, Claire G. Haug and her husband Darrin of Bellingham, Catherine A. Goepfert and her husband Greg of Clearwater, Florida and Vincent W. Giardini and his wife Lauren of St. Augustine, Florida.
She was the sister of the late Lawrence Fontaine.
Catherine is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Her services will be private.
