FALL RIVER – Maria Jose (Sousa) Correia, 92 of Fall River, passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Lomba da Maia, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Jose Sousa Soares & Maria Jose (Bonito Sousa) Soares and the beloved wife of the late Mario R. Correia.
Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a machine operator for Shelburne Shirt Mfg. Co. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church and a member of its Holy Rosary Society.
She is survived by her 5 daughters: Maria Aguiar of Fall River, Irene Rebelo (husband Ernesto) of Canada, Manuela Sousa & Ana Paula Almeida both of Fall River, and Aida Furtado (husband Luis) of Westport; sister: Adelaide Bonito of São Miguel, Açores; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Monday, Nov. 5th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
