Obituary

Frank (Uncle Frank) Howard Chappell, formerly of Berlin, NH, passed away on October 26, 2018 in Sedona, AZ. He was born in Tucson, AZ on May 10, 1919, and had been a resident of Berlin, NH since 1946. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific until being reassigned to the POW Camp in Stark, NH in 1944. He was the last surviving American and German veteran of the POW Camp. He was honorably discharged in 1946 after 5 years of military service. He retired from the Ironworkers Local 7. Upon retirement, Uncle Frank went to White Mountain Lumber Company and for the next 30 years worked with his nephews, Mark and Barry, as their valued mailman, bank courier, and was always available for any errand or delivery.

Members of the family include his daughters Susan Huddleston and her husband, Richard, of Sedona, AZ and Melissa Baur and her husband, Gerald, of Flat Rock, NC; nephews Barry Kelley and his wife, Elaine, and their children, Siobhan, Quinn, Brynna, and Devin; Mark Kelley and his wife Kathleen, and their children, Eoghan, Eamon, Aobhinn, and Eileen; and Danny Collins and his wife, Judy, and their children, Sean, Amy, and Daniel. He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth (Collins) Chappell.

A graveside service with interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Berlin, NH at 10 AM on Friday, May 10, 2019, which would have been his 100th birthday.
