Manuel Jose, a Woburn resident for nearly fifty years, passed away peacefully October 31, 2018 at the Woburn Nursing Center following a lengthy period of declining health. He was 85 years of age. Manuel was the beloved husband of Maria Celeste (Pinto) Jose. Born in Portugal he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Fernandes) Jose.
Manuel worked for many years as a factory worker in the rubber and textile industry prior to his retirement. Following his retirement, Manuel continued working in construction as a talented stone mason. He loved caring for his fruits and vegetable gardens and also making his home made wine. He also enjoyed being a member of Woburn's Portuguese-American Recreation Club.
In addition to his beloved wife, Manuel is survived by his siblings; Maria Fernanda DaSilva and her husband Emanuel DaSilva of Woburn, Gorete Jose, Maria Jose Pestana, Agostinha Castro, all of Venezuela, and Antonio Jose Jr. of Portugal. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, November 5th, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
