Dorothy M. Maher, age 70, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, December 12th. She was the beloved wife of Lawrence P. Maher. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Katherine (Taylor) and John MacPhee.
Mrs. Maher was raised in Cambridge, where she was a graduate of the Cambridge High and Latin School and later recieved her Bachelor of Science Degree from Harvard University. She worked for many years as an Administrator for the Town of Arlington Conservation Committee.
Mrs. Maher was devoted to her family. She loved playing tennis with her many friends and also enjoyed traveling and golfing with her husband and family.
In addition to her beloved husband, Mrs. Maher is survived by her children, Diane Pessinis and her husband Stephen of North Andover, David Maher of Auburn, NH, Joanne D´Alleva and her husband Lou of Burlington, John Maher and his wife Ellen of Ipswich. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Michelle, Lauren, Melissa, Brian, Katelyn, Ian and Anna. She is further survived by her brother, John “Jack” MacPhee and his wife Eleanor of Arlington. She is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Gibbs.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy´s memory to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, c/o Special Care Nursery, 41 Highland Ave, Winchester, MA 01890 or to the American Heart Assoc. 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday, at 10:30 AM. Followed by funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11:30 AM. Realtives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
