Leo F. O’Neil, Jr., age 89, of Brockton, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Colony Center for Health in Abington. Leo was the loving husband for over 52 years of the late Joan C. (Shields) O’Neil. Born in Boston, and raised and educated in Roxbury, he was the son of the late Leo F. and Teresa (Rose) O’Neil. Leo was an Army veteran of the Korean War. For over 30 years he had been employed as a driver for the Boston Globe and enjoyed talking with people for 20 years as a Greeter at the Abington Walmart. Leo enjoyed taking care of his family and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.
Leo was the father of William O’Neil and his wife Diane of Tennessee, Bruce O’Neil and his wife Gina of Pembroke and David O’Neil and his wife Mindy of Brockton; grandfather of Brittany Wilson, Shane and Kelly O’Neil and Russell; great grandfather of Allison and Katy Wilson; brother of Joyce St. Pierre and Steven O’Neil and brother in law of Claire O’Neil and Patricia Aucella. He was the brother of the late Donald O’Neil, Nancy Booth and her husband John, Irene “Rene” Cejka and her husband Robert, Teresa “Terrie” Rafferty and her husband Donald and brother in law of the late Arthur Aucella and Joseph St. Pierre. He is also survived by a special niece Bonnie Pietragallo and her husband John and their daughters Alexandra and Kerri in addition to many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, on Sunday, November 4, 2-6pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 10am for a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
