Charles L. "Chuck" McCombs, III, 64, of New Bedford died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Lorraine (Aguiar) McCombs.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Charles L. McCombs, Jr. and Juliette (Emond) McCombs, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was formerly employed as an over the road truck driver for many years and later worked for Dennison Lubricants, where he was recently awarded the first "Outstanding Employee Award" in recognition of his outstanding work ethic, positive attitude and good humor.
Chuck always had a joke or a story to tell, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, listening to music. playing Facebook games, driving his antiques and going to casinos.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his daughter, Pamela (McCombs) D'Amico and her wife Kerri of Acushnet; his brother, Ronald McCombs of Florida; his sisters, Phyllis Schram of Florida and Sharon Capra and her husband Joe of Acushnet; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Charles L. McCombs, IV.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 2-6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His funeral service will take place Saturday at 4:30 PM, during the visitation. Burial will be private.
