A bright light that illuminated those around him with his infectious smile and contagious laugh has passed.
Michael C. Souza, 59, a native of New Bedford, lost his battle with a long illness on September 29, 2018.
A graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1977, he was a roofer by trade and a member of the local roofers’ union. He worked on numerous major projects and high rises in Providence and elsewhere.
He grew up in New Bedford on Oak Street and later lived in California and for the past six years has resided in Florida, where he made many friends. He was generous to a fault and often would give his last dollars to new friends. His laughter will be missed by all he touched.
Michael joins his sister Laurie in Heaven.
He is survived by his mother and father; Lorraine and Richard Souza of Wareham; his sisters: Debra Cunha of Arizona and Heidi Tilley of Swansea; His Brother: Thomas Souza of Freetown and several nieces and nephews.
Michael’s visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 1:00 -4:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Donations to assist the family for his services can be made In lieu of flowers to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, Ma. 02740.
