Lawrence Kent Richey, 75, of Ventura, California, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, surrounded by his family. Larry was born on September 22, 1943 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Thomas and Jean Richey. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1961. Shortly after his graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force. After his service, he fell in love with and married the love of his life, Margie Richey, in Ventura, Ca. in 1969.
When Larry wasn't working on one of his many vintage cars, including his prized 1931 Ford Victoria street rod, managing his coveted video collection, or participating in car shows, he was spending time with his many friends and having get-togethers with his family. He enjoyed spending holidays, birthdays, "Taco Tuesdays," and camping trips with these loved ones.
Larry is survived by his four children: Tammy Richey Spears, Hyland Joseph Richey, Thomas Edward Schmitter, all three of Ventura, California, and Jason Kimel, currently on active duty, U.S. Army, Alabama. He is also survived by his brother, Steven Richey and his wife, Mary, along with his nieces and nephews and numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Richey and his son Kenneth Richey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Ventura Chapter of the Moose Lodge where he was a longtime member. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
