Robert G. Meyers, Sr., 90, of Hampstead, NH, passed away Monday October 29, 2018 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH after a brief illness. Bob was born November 6, 1927 in Billerica, MA and was a son of the late Elmer F. and Anna (McMenimen) Meyers. He was raised and educated in Billerica and attended Billerica High School. He has been a resident of Hampstead for the past 53 years.
Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and later worked as a pressman with Courier Citizen Co. for over 36 years. Bob was the owner of Hillside Orchard, a small orchard in Hampstead, which offered apples, pumpkins, mums, tomatoes, and strawberries for sale to the public.
He enjoyed playing sports and was an avid Red Sox fan. His sharp wit and sense of humor were his trademark; he loved to visit and enjoy chats on the porch or relax sitting by his beautiful vegetable garden. Bob will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Members of the family include his son, Robert G. Meyers Jr. and his partner Irene Corcoran, two daughters, Joan M. Meyers, Elaine M. and her husband David C. Luke, two grandsons, Robert G. Meyers, III and his wife Margie, Brett Meyers and his wife Lisa, a great granddaughter, Harper and two great grandsons, Trevor and Tyler. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy M. Meyers in 2016.
Calling hours were held Friday November 2, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A celebration of his life was held Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the West Hampstead Cemetery.
