Carmen L. Oliver, 76, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home on Monday October 29, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Donald F. Oliver.
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Ismael and Modesta Robles, she lived in New Bedford for many years.
Carmen was formerly employed as a nurse’s assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital and later worked as a social worker for Child and Family Service.
She loved gardening, camping, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Donald; her children, Anthony Oliver, Judith Clark and her companion Jaime Gonzalez, Dawn Whatley and her husband Ernie, and Gregory Oliver and his wife Laverne; her grandchildren, Alisha Ramos and her husband Jose, Donelle Clark, Anthony Rather, Stacey Whatley, Louis Whatley, Jenny Alcide, Megan Oliver, Oryann Oliver, Courtnee Todman, Adam Clark, and Jeffrey Clark; her siblings, Junior Morales, Conception Gomes, Judith Gilbert, Luis Robles, George Morales, Elizabeth Castaneda, Eliot Morales, Joseph Morales, and William Morales; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Naomi Morales, Edwin Morales, Irma Morales, and Lydia Rosali.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with visitation 8:30-10:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
