Obituary

Bridgewater - Leo J. Provost, 84, of Bridgewater died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Borella) Provost.

Born Jan. 4, 1921, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Leander and Albina (Ouimet) Provost.

A lifelong resident of Bridgewater, Mr. Provost was a graduate of Bridgewater Academy High School, Class of 1938.

He was a mailman in Hanover for 14 years and a postal supervisor in Bridgewater for more than 25 years.

Mr. Provost was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and spent 33 years in the Naval Reserves.

He was a member of the V.F.W. of Bridgewater, St. Vincent DePaul Society and Bridgewater Vets Club.

Mr. Provost also volunteered his time at St. Thomas Aquinas Church‘s food pantry.

He is survived by his son and daughter, Robert Provost of Bridgewater and Janet Young of Chestertown, Md.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gerard, Oliver and Philip Provost and Aurora Mason.

Hif funeral will be held from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday at 8:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 am. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
