Sandra L. Leitao, of Taunton formerly of Hyde Park, passed away Wednesday evening October 24th, 2018 with her loving family by her side at Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston at the age of 62.
Born on September 16, 1956 in Brookline; daughter of the late Richard and Phyllis (Durfee) Marshalsea, Sandra was raised in the Hyde Park section of Boston. She raised her family and lived for most of her life in Hyde Park until moving to Taunton 10 years ago.
Sandra attended Hyde Park High School and graduated from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner throughout her career in various nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.
Family was the most important aspect of her life especially her grandchildren. She did love playing bingo and she enjoyed her occasional trips to Foxwood's Resort and Casino. Sandra was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband Amancio "Mike" V. Leitao, her devoted & loving children the late Michael Leitao and his wife Lisa of Dedham, James Leitao of Plainville, Christopher Leitao and his wife Faith of Plainville, Lisa Hilton and her husband Mark of Milford, Norman Leitao of Taunton, Sandra Leitao and her 3 children whom she shared a special bond with, and her dear siblings Valarie Spiker of Bellingham, Richard Marshalsea Jr. of Reading, Timothy, Stephen and Daniel Marshalsea all of Taunton. In addition, she is survived by 23 cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, October 29th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Taunton Funeral Home, 8 Crapo St. (Off Route 140, Tremont St.), Taunton.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Sandra's Life will be held at Saint Mary's Church, 14 Saint Marys Sq. Taunton on Tuesday October 30th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private for the family at a later date.
