Travis Greg Raffield, 49, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Friday, October 26, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, October 29, 2018, at Ocilla Baptist Church in Ocilla, with the Rev. Rob Dowdle and the Rev. Billy Stephens officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Sunday afternoon at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Greg was born March 18, 1969, in East Point, Georgia to Travis Wayne Raffield and the late Sonya Yvette Carroll Norman. He grew up in Fitzgerald and moved to Gwinnet County, graduating in 1987 from Central High School in Lawrenceville. He was adopted by the FHS Class of 1987 and proudly attended all their local class functions. He attended Gwinnett Community College. Greg became a certified real estate appraiser in 1994 and was the owner and President of Southeastern Appraisal Group of Georgia. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, always providing the entertainment, whether it was cooking or just having a good laugh. Greg was passionate about his career, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed traveling and taking his family on new adventures, making memories all the while. He was a proud, doting father and husband who loved his family with all of his heart. If you met him, you will never forget him. Greg leaves a lifelong legacy behind that will always be treasured.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Giddens Raffield of Irwin County; children: T.J. Strawder, Tate Strawder, Emma Grace Raffield, and Eva Joy Raffield; father and step-mother: Wayne & Bonnie Raffield of Rutledge; brother, Bryan & Stacey Raffield of Atlanta; step-father, Scott Norman of Jacksonville, Florida; step-siblings, Jeff Norman & Merideth of Abbeville, Walter Norman, IV & Byra of Kansas City, Missouri, Sherry & Royce Whitaker of Mansfield, and Chris Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina; maternal grandmother, Willie Kate Carroll of Senoia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger & Starling Giddens of Ashburn; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Craig & Brandi Giddens of Ashburn. Several nieces and nephews also survive including Ashlee Raffield Phelps & John, and their children Abraham and Axel, Ethan Hertz, Alex Hertz, Rachel Hertz, Reese Giddens, Colby & Elaina Giddens, Olivia Nicodemus, Gracen Norman, Walt Norman V, and Darcie Whitaker. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rayford Carroll and his paternal grandparents, Jack & Pearl Raffield.
