Leonel M. Carreiro, age 69, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday October 25, 2018. Born in Sao Miguel, Acores he was the son of the late Leonel S. and Maria (Machado) Medeiros, and husband of Maria (Sousa) Carreiro. Leonel was a member of Ateneu Luso Americano, the Academica Club, and St. Michael’s Feast Committee.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Nelson Carreiro (significant other Andrea), and Susan Carreiro-Penacho (significant other Nuno); grandchildren: Shaelyn Carreiro, Samantha, Felicity and Jacob Penacho; siblings: Cindy Rego, Manuel Carreiro (wife Georgina), and Laura Ferreira (husband Tony); brother in laws: Valter Sousa (wife Eduarda) and Victor Sousa (wife Maria); sister in law: Alda Sousa; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday here at 10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Michael’s Church at 11 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday from 4-8 P.M.
