Maureen J. (Kelter) Tilton, 78, of Westwood formerly of Franklin, died suddenly October 22 in her home. She was the beloved wife of Daniel J. Tilton for the past 54 years.
Born in Norwood, February 22, 1940, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Kelter, Mrs. Tilton was raised in Norwood and had lived in Franklin for over 40 years prior to moving to Westwood 7 years ago.
After her children were grown Maureen worked in the cafeteria of Franklin High School and Remington Jefferson Middle School, where she was a founding member of The Lunch Lady Mafia. She was devoted to her family, her five sons, and their families. She had a lifelong love of travel and enjoyed crafting ceramics and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family on Christmas morning.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sons, Daniel and his wife Janet of Mansfield, Paul and his wife Helen of Franklin, James and his wife Jean of Millville, and Christopher and his wife Tip of Oakley, California. She was the mother of the late Timothy Tilton and is survived by her daughter-in-law Lori Tilton of Blackstone.
She was the sister of the late Edward Kelter of Salem.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley, Casey, Christopher, Jessica, Christopher, Olivia, Luci and Sophia and her great- grandchildren, Landon, Cayden and Hunter.
Calling hours will be held on Friday October 26th in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin from 4:00-7:30 p.m. with a service to be held at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be private.
