GRELLA, Joseph J. Of Norwood formerly of Dedham and Largo, FL, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 23, 2018. Beloved husband of Mary J. (Columbo) Grella. Devoted father of Joseph Grella and his wife Joanne of Gloucester, Richard Grella and his wife Tracy of Foxboro, and Michael Grella of South Yarmouth. Grandfather of Jessica Grella, Katrina Grella, and the late Michael Grella. Brother of Margaret Grella of Attleboro, Rosemary Lombardi and her husband Tony of Brighton, and the late Betty Jane McGuiggan and her surviving husband David of Attleboro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Son of the late Matthew and Margaret (Tuite) Grella.
Graduate of Newton High School and Northeastern University School of Engineering. Retired Engineer for GTE. Former Veterans Agent, Town of Dedham. Korean War Veteran, U.S. Marine Corps. Past Commander of the Dedham American Legion Post 18. Member of the Dedham VFW USS Jacob Jones Post 2017, Boston Lodge of Elks #10, and the Dedham Zoning Board of Appeals.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Friday, Oct. 26 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home Thursday, Oct. 25 from 4-8pm. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
