Francis E. “Frank” Hayes, 85 of Whitman, went home to be with the Lord on October 18th in West Bridgewater after a period of failing health.
He was born and raised in Quincy, son of the late Francis L. and Mary E. (McCarthy) Hayes. He worked for the family business South Shore Awning Company and as a Motion Picture operator for many years.
Frank attended Quincy Schools, a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. Past board member of Whitman Housing Authority, volunteered on the committee that raised funds that built the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital. He was also a member of the Whitman Amateur Radio Club.N10GP.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen Hayes and her husband Thomas Francois, Edward Hayes and his wife Melanie, Robin Butler and her husband Joseph, Maureen Goodspeed and her husband Mark, his brother Joseph Hayes, his sister Carol Willard, his sister-in-law’s Gail Tausevitch and Barbara Hayes; also 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by Carol Ann (Faustini) Hayes, his sister Mary Crowley and his brother Thomas Hayes.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 24th at 11:00am in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 23rd from 4:00-8:00.
