Russell W. Gilbert, 89, of Worcester, died Wednesday, October 17th in UMass Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor J. (Davis) Gilbert with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding annniversary in June; his son Gary R. Gilbert and his wife, Lori of Danielson, CT; his daughter, Linda D. Sullivan and her husband, Mark of Easton; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Tasney, Michael, Kyle and Caitlyn Gilbert, Dylan Peloquin, Connor and Kelsey Sullivan and three great-grandchildren.
He was born in Worcester, the son of George and Mabel (Madden) Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He had worked as store manager and pharmacist for the former Vernon Drug for 40 years and Lincoln Pharmacy then as a pharmacist for CVS Pharmacy retiring 24 years ago. His hobbies included gardening, reading and trips to Cape Cod.
Calling hours are Saturday, October 20th from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
