Laura Baker Gibson, 94, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Tifton Health and Rehab. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Mrs. Gibson will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Michael Horton, Tommy Jackson, Rick Berry, Billy Selph, Al Stephenson and Johnny Crawford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Anne Hammond Sunday School Class and the J. Bob Brewster Sunday School Class at Northside Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born February 4, 1924 in LaGrange, Mrs. Gibson was the daughter of the late Henry Alfred Baker and Bessie Mae Smith Baker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lacey “Stacey” Gibson; and one brother, Henry Alfred Baker, Jr. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by one sister, Merle Baker Cottle of Gainesville, Florida; one niece, Donna Cottle of Gainesville, Florida; and one nephew, HAB, Jr. She is also survived by the Gene Scott Family, the Wylene Jackson Family and Margie Coleman.
