Robert B. Berglund, age 48, a lifelong resident of Foxboro, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Norwood, MA on October 11, 1970, he was a loving son of Grace F. (Darling) Berglund of Foxboro and the late David E. Berglund, Sr.
Rob grew up in Foxboro and was a 1989 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in South Easton. Rob spent his working career as a skilled diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He was most recently employed for NRC Environmental in Franklin.
Rob loved spending time with family and friends, especially at his family’s log cabin in Maine. He was a huge fan of racing and NASCAR and was considered by all to be an expert chassis builder and an accomplished trophy winning mud racer and sand drags racer. Rob was always there to help and share his knowledge with others and will be deeply missed by all whose life’s he touched.
In addition to being a loving son, he was a devoted brother and best friend of David E. Berglund, Jr. and his companion Jo-Ann and their children Christina and Jordan of Attleboro, and Lisa A. Berglund and her companion Leo Muro of Long Beach, California. He is also survived by his loving aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many friends in the New England racing circuit.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 9:00 A.M. in the First Congregational Church of Sharon, 29 North Main St., Sharon. Burial will follow at the Wrentham Center Cemetery in Wrentham.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 19th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
