SOMERSET – Wayne Cookson, age 69 of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2018 at St. Anne’s Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Sydney Cookson and the late Mabel (Lang) Cookson and the beloved husband of Vivian (Cabral) Cookson.
Prior to retiring, Wayne worked for Phoenix Inc. of Seekonk as a Machinist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, an avid New England sports fan, including the N.E. Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, and he enjoyed going fishing.
He is survived by his two sons: Wayne S. Cookson (wife Victoria) of Fall River and Kevin J. Cookson of Somerset; four grandchildren: Jadin Wayne Cookson, Preston Joseph Cookson, Casey Lynn Cookson, and Chelsea Ann Cookson; two step-grandsons: Justin Botelho and Taylor Lauzon; one brother: Richard Cookson of Fall River; one sister: Ruth Rodriques of Westport; nieces and nephews; and his beloved golden retriever: Charlie.
At the request of Wayne’s family and Wayne himself, all funeral services will be private and entrusted to the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main Street, Fall River, MA.
