Obituary

ROBERT SILVER, former long-time resident of Ojai, California, died on Saturday, October 6, 2018, in Ventura, California – where he had lived for over six years – from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease. His wife, Christean, was with him as he passed away peacefully with a near-smile on his face.

Robert was born October 25, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Nathan and Esther Silver. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur and his sister Linda. He is survived by his wife Christean, his sister Judy, seven children, fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Three of his children - Wendy, Scott, and Rebecca - were able to visit him during his last days.

In 1957 Robert graduated from the University of Chicago, and in 1966 he graduated from UCLA School of Law. For nearly forty years, he practiced law successfully in Ventura, including helping many pro bono clients. Thereafter he enjoyed retirement, which for him meant Bible study, church attendance, hiking, eating good food, and helping others when he had the opportunity.

On October 8, Robert received the traditional Jewish tahara, and on October 9 was buried in a traditional pine casket at Arroyo Grande Cemetery, Arroyo Grande, CA, under the direction of Joseph Reardon Funeral Home of Ventura. Pastor Lyn Thomas of Ojai Valley Wesleyan Church officiated, as requested long ago by Robert. The graveside service was loving and comforting, and included some tender and funny shared memories.

Robert brought much joy to others through his loyal, affectionate, non-judgmental, and forgiving nature.

HE WAS GREATLY LOVED.
