Obituary

Remo J. Scarfo, of Burlington, formerly of East Boston, passed away, on Monday, October 8th. Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Nicodemo and Giralda (Caristo) Scarfo.

Remo enlisted into the United States Army and Airforce in October of 1944, from Forts Banks, serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and the Philippines Victory Medal.

Remo was a talented tailor, and owned a successful business in Harvard Square, named Scarfo Brother’s Custom Tailoring. He was a hard worker. Remo was also known for throwing lavish Christmas parties, everyone was invited. An avid Red Sox fan, Remo loved to watch all the games. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the local Dunkin Donuts in Burlington.

Remo was the beloved husband of Beverly (O’Connor) Scarfo. He was the dear brother of Patricia Montana and her husband Bob of Middleboro and the late Phillip, Eugene, Edmund Scarfo and his surviving wife Vincenzia of Tewksbury, and Virginia Hogan. Brother in law of Evelyn Federico and her husband Joe of Medford, and Cynthia O’Connor of Cambridge. Loving uncle of Gerald DiFranza of Winthrop, Geraldine McNamee and her husband Jim of Burlington, Henry Scarfo and his wife Sam of Lake Mary, FL, Remo G. Scarfo and his wife Nancy of Medford, Viriginia Yeanacopolis and her husband Peter of SC, Cheryl Hanlin and her husband Bill of Tewksbury, Kevin and Patrick Finn, and Maryanne Frost and her husband Steve of CT., and the late Phillip Scarfo. Great uncle of Joseph McNamee, Viriginia Milano, Edmund Scarfo, Mark Scarfo, Danielle Magee and Amanda Fodera. Also survived by many loving family members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Saturday, October 13th from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, Saturday at 11 AM. Burial will be private. Late Army and Air Force, WWII and Korean War Veteran.
