Obituary


Josephine R. Milano, 104 years of age, of Reading formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, October 7, 2018. Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Patrick Anthony Milano. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Crucifina (Faraci) Abisso.

Josephine was raised and educated in East Boston. She worked for many years, first as a talented stitcher with the Piccorollo & Singer clothing company and later worked for the City of Somerville Public School system as a switch board operator in the Superintendent Office and retired from the Travelers Insurance Co. where she also worked as a switchboard operator.

Josephine was mostly devoted to her loving family. She enjoyed reading, cooking for family and friends, and hosting holidays. Nothing made her happier than to be surrounded by her family. For over twenty years she also enjoyed spending the winter months in Hollywood, Florida where she made many wonderful friendships over the years.

Josephine was the devoted and cherished mother of Marie Churchill of Reading, Patricia Citrano of Reading, and Helen Staffieri and her husband Daniel of Wakefield. She was the loving grandmother of Maureen Corrado and her husband Michael, John Citrano and his wife Robin, Richard Citrano and his wife Jill, Deana McCarron and her husband Robert, Daniel Staffieri and his wife Stacie, and is also survived by thirteen loving great grandchildren. Sister of Rocco Abisso and his wife Rose of Andover, the late Joseph Abisso, Tina Buttiglieri, Mary Ferrandi, and Rose Gilbert. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, October 10th from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
