Regis B. Bowen 89, of Hanson, formerly of Whitman, passed away at South Shore Hospital surrounded by his family on October 6, 2018, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Geraldine (Belanger) Bowen and they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2018.
He was born in 1929 in Pittsburg, PA and was the 4th child of James and Margaret (Bert) Bowen.
Regis served aboard the USS Midway while in the US Navy from 1950-1952.
A longtime resident of Whitman and served 25 years as a Whitman Police officer. He was an avid hunter and woodworker.
He leaves behind 6 children, Doreen Dion and her late husband Charles of Carver, Thomas Bowen and his significant other Cindy Waters of Chatham, Richard Bowen and his wife Jane of Bridgewater, Janet Kielty and her husband David of Rochester, Cheryl Lombard and her husband David of Halifax, and Paul Bowen and his wife Joanne of East Bridgewater. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Alexa, Jeffrey, Christina, Bradley, Casey, Andrew, Derek, Jennifer, Scott, Michael and Nicole, and 14 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 11th from 4-8 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 12, 2018 followed by a committal service at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
