Obituary

Joseph William Cassidy, 72 years old, has been a 19-year resident of Londonderry, NH, passed away on October 6, 2018 in Boston, MA. Joe passed peacefully, surrounded by his large and loving family. Joe was very courageous in battling leukemia over the last year; never losing his sense of humor, remaining polite and kind to all the medical staff, even when he was in pain.

He was born January 24, 1946 in Boca Raton, FL. Joe moved around quite a bit as a child; spending time in British Columbia, California, Winchester & Melrose, MA, eventually completing high school at Central High in Manchester, NH. Joe served in the US Army, schooled in cryptography, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era, where he started his family. After the military, Joe furthered his career working at Sanders, New England Circuits, Capitol Circuits then starting his own consulting business. Joe founded his own company, EMA Services, in 1987 where he served as President and Owner until his retirement in 2014.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, be it a small pond or on the ocean as part of the annual father-son adventure. Joe enjoyed countless hours swimming at his parent’s house on Northwood Lake. He was a great family man, proud of his Irish heritage and taking his role as the ‘older brother’ very seriously. Joe resided in Londonderry, NH with his loving wife Sandra. They were inseparable, working, living and spending their leisure time together often enjoying the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Joe is welcomed into heaven by his father, Joseph Anthony Cassidy, his mother Elizabeth Jean Manners Cassidy, Joe’s son Kevin and Joe’s brother Jim.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra; his son Scott and his wife Kim; his step-daughter Jacqueline McQuarrie, and his grandchildren Colin and Clare Cassidy, Brady and Kayla McQuarrie. He is further survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Cameron, Mary Scamman and Patricia Cassidy, his brothers, Dan Cassidy and John Cassidy, his sister-in-law Linda Plaza-Cassidy and former-wife Maureen. He is also survived by his Aunt Dorothy, and a large extended family.

Joe’s wishes are for a private gathering in lieu of services. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local ASPCA. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry assisted the family with services.
