Wayland: Maureen Theresa Hojlo, aged 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Maureen was the devoted wife of 57 years to husband Lawrence, the loving mother of 6 children and a doting grandmother of 14 grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Maureen is survived by her son David and his wife Laurie of Wayland and their children Maggie and Scott; daughter Patricia Sutyla and her husband Mark of Coventry, RI and their sons Ryan, Kevin and Colin; daughter Teresa Messier and her husband Gary of Apex, NC and their daughters Katelyn, Brittany and Jacqueline and her husband Nolan Carpenter; son Jeffrey and his wife Susan of Southborough and their children Alison, Evan and Jason; son Christopher and his wife Julie of Greenwich, CT and their children Teddy, Philip and Leigh; and son Patrick of New York, NY. Additionally, Maureen is survived by her brother Patrick Norton and sister Kathleen Gavin; she was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Norton, and her sister Charleen Norton.
Born and raised in Concord, NH, Maureen moved to Boston upon graduation from Concord High School, where she attended and graduated from Burdett College.
Maureen will be fondly remembered for her generous and loving nature, and as someone who always placed the needs of others above her own. A long-time resident of Duxbury, Maureen was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Duxbury and frequent community volunteer. When not tending to her family and community Maureen could often be found nurturing her prized flower beds. She most recently resided with her husband in Wayland.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland
Maureen’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann Church, 134 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27), Wayland.
