Beverly M. Swanson, 97

Dateline: Norton, MA

Beverly M. (Knowlton) Swanson, age 97, of Norton passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Taunton Nursing Home in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Swanson and the late George H. Sears, Sr.

Born in Attleboro, MA on April 21, 1921, she was a loving daughter of the late Leverett G. Knowlton and Elizabeth M. (Smith) Lorsen.

Beverly grew up and was educated in Attleboro and Washington, Maine. Prior to retiring, she had been employed for twenty years at the former L.G. Balfour Co. in Attleboro, and when younger had worked at her father’s store, the former Knowlton’s Market in Attleboro.

Beverly’s life truly revolved around her loving and adoring family. She was a longtime member of the Grace Baptist Church in Attleboro and was a member of the Balfour Gold Dusters retirement club. She enjoyed trips to visit family in Maine; and along with her daughter, trips to Florida and California to spend time with her grandchildren. In addition to living in Norton, Mrs. Swanson had also resided in Attleboro and Warwick, RI

She is survived by her devoted children Loretta M. Watson of Norton and George H. “Bud” Sears, Jr. of East Taunton. She was the stepmother of Dean A. Swanson, Sr. of East Greenwich, RI, Diane Guertin of Kirbyville, TX and the late Helen Gail Gore. She was the cherished grandmother of Kimberly Grimmel, Gregory Watson, Brian Watson, Christine Montague and the late Erik William Sears. She was the step grandmother of Dean Swanson, Jr., David Swanson, Kenneth Haines, Rhonda Morriss and Shanandoah Gore. She was the dear sister of the late Clarence Knowlton, Kenneth Knowlton, Clifford Knowlton, Geraldine Everett and June Gentle. She is also survived by great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, October 12th at 11:00 A.M. in the Grace Baptist Church, 1000 Oakhill Avenue, Attleboro. Burial will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 11th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s memory may be made to the Grace Baptist Church in Attleboro.
