Eleanor L. Janice
Longtime Tewksbury resident
TEWKSBURY: Eleanor L. (Queenan) Janice, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Thursday, October 4, 2018.
She was the beloved wife of Andrew P. Janice, who passed away on October 12, 2009.
Born in Somerville on July 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. Queenan and the late Winifred (Connors) Queenan.
Eleanor was raised in Somerville and graduated from St. Joseph’s Parochial High School.
Following high school, she attended business school and received a certificate in banking.
Eleanor enjoyed traveling with her late husband, and playing bingo at the Tewksbury Elks and St. William’s Church. In addition, she loved watching the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
She is survived by two children, Philip E. Janice of Chelsea and Patricia A. Sockey and her husband David of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Andrew P. and Leah K. Sockey; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Eleanor was the sister of the late Rita Aiello, Irene Shea, Mary Coleman, Martin and Edward Queenan.
Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 8, from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
