TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Irene Elizabeth (Pelrine) Mohan, age 73, died peacefully in the exceptional care of the Blaire House of Tewksbury and New England Hospice on Friday morning, October 5, in Tewksbury, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was the beloved wife of Mark A. Mohan, with whom she had celebrated a fifty-second wedding anniversary on August 13.
She was born in Everett in March 1945, one of seven children of the late Charles and Ellen “Helen” (Hogan) Pelrine, and raised in Everett. She graduated from the Julie Billiart High School in Boston’s North End. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Northeastern University.
She worked as an accountant for several area companies including, Wang Laboratories, Hitachi Electronics, and Gold Star Nurseries.
Irene and Mark moved to Tewksbury in 1969 to raise their family, and were members of the St. William’s Parish community.
Irene was a devoted grandmother to her three beloved grandchildren Grace, Paige and Shawn. Irene was affectionately described as the “consummate shopper” and a well-recognized customer at Marshalls and Filene’s. She never missed a good sale or a great coupon and could be found for many years at the layaway counter at Marshalls in Tewksbury. Irene enjoyed spending time with many lifelong friends and neighbors including her JB Girls and MGH family.
Besides her husband and grandchildren, she leaves a son, Eric Mohan and his wife Nancy (Gianni) of Pelham, NH; a daughter, Danielle Boudreau and her husband Dana of Hudson, NH; two sisters, Mary Murch of Bradford, and Paula Coppola and her husband Charles of Methuen; sisters-in-law, Anne Pelrine of Reading, and Judy Pelrine of FL; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Pelrine, Julie Elmore, John Pelrine and James Pelrine.
Visiting hours Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
