FRAMINGHAM: Herbert L. Hilton, 83, died peacefully and comfortably in the care and comfort of his family on October 3, 2018 following a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.
He was born in Brookline on April 8, 1935 the son of the late Maynard Hilton and Edith (Sabean) Hilton.
Her was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn Ann (Main) Hilton who died on July 1, 1996.
He was the loving and devoted father of Mark L. Hilton and his wife Sue of Ft. Myers, FL; Judith A. Dagg of Bellingham; Michael J. Hilton and his wife Lisa of Mendon and
Sandra J. Kivlehan and her husband James of Hopedale. Grandfather of Margaret Antonino and her husband Christopher; Patrick Hilton, Jessica Dagg, Christopher Dagg, Elizabeth, Sam and Jon Hilton and Carolyn and Cameron Kivlehan. He was the brother of Edith Scannell and her husband Bill of Wayland; Bob Hilton and his wife Gale of Zephyr Hills, FL, Joanie Culliton and her husband Paul of Hopkinton and the late Maynard Hilton. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Herb has been a resident of Framingham for over 55 years and was a longtime resident of Wayland. He graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1953. Herb served his country proudly and with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
For many years prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver with Consolidated Freight. He was the President of Teamsters Local 170 Retiree’s Chapter, Worcester. Herb was an active member of the Easy Rider Snowmobile Club as well as a current Board member. He was the Past President and Easy Rider Delegate to SAM (Snow Mobile Assoc. of Mass.) and was passionate about the commitment to supporting two children with scholarships to Camp Sno-Mo, an Easter Seals Camp for children with disabilities and special needs. He was an avid sports fan and was a Patriots season ticket holder for over 20 years and enjoyed Red Sox and Bruins games with friends and family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family – including attending his grandchildren’s activities, sports and special events.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
His funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:00 am followed by interment in the Hilton family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial donations in Herb’s memory may be made to the Local 170 Scholarship Fund, c/o Teamsters Union Local 170, 330 Southwest Cutoff, Suite 201, Worcester, MA 01609.
