Sheila A. (McLaughlin) Hooper 78, of Franklin, died unexpectedly, Wednesday October 3, 2018 at the Cape Cod Irish Village in Yarmouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Hooper, who died in 1992.
Born April 26, 1940, in Boston a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary A. (Mee) McLaughlin, she was a former resident of the Jamaica Plain section of Boston before moving to Franklin 49 years ago.
She was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Sheila worked as a secretary for St. Mary’s Church in Franklin, for their religious education program.
A devoted member of St. Mary’s Church, she was actively involved in numerous programs and was a volunteer for the Franklin Senior Center, the Franklin Recreational Department the Friends of Franklin and was a board member of the Friends of the Franklin Elders.
Above all Sheila treasured her family and her Irish heritage.
She is survived by her children, Karen A. Rumrill and her husband Stanley of Westminster, Vermont, Daniel J. Hooper and his wife Kathleen of Medway, John P. Hooper and his wife Crystal of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Kevin M. Hooper and his wife Theresa of Cary, North Carolina and David G. Hooper and his wife Kerry of Nashua, New Hampshire, a sister Patricia Young of Lakeville and 14 grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Joseph P. Hooper.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday Oct. 8th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church 86 Main St. Norfolk, at 10AM.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2-6PM.
