Sylvia (Baez) Jimenez, age 89, of Brockton, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, Sunday, September 30, 2018. Sylvia was the beloved wife for 64 years of Jose Jimenez, and loving mother of Sebastian Jimenez of Brockton. Born, raised and educated in Chile, she was the daughter of the late Nasario and Carmen (Maureira) Baez.
Sylvia was a hard worker who emigrated from Chile in April, 1969 and became a United States citizen in 1975. Known as “Tia Silvia” she and her husband Jose were the owners and cooks of the exquisite and famous Chilean Restaurant, “Sebastian’s Chilean Restaurant” in Easton, where they always welcomed new family and friends with open arms. For many years, Sylvia and Jose offered a place to work and a place to stay for new immigrants to the United States. Sylvia wanted to be remembered as a strong, cheerful, happy and courageous woman who was a fighter her entire life.
Sylvia is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday, October 4, from 4-7pm, followed by a funeral service at 7pm.
