Obituary

Joan M. Smith Clancy, 87, of Millis passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late James J. Clancy who died in 2004.

Born in Boston on December 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Dorothea McLean.

Mrs. Clancy was a resident of Millis for most of her life and worked at GTE Sylvania for 32 years, retiring as an accounting supervisor.

She volunteered at the Medway Country Manor and was an active parishioner at St. Thomas Church in Millis where she cared for the alter linens for many years.

Mrs. Clancy was one of the founders of the Millis Booster Club, ran the first Millis Little League concession stand from her home, and was an avid bowler.

She is survived by her son Stephen Smith and his wife Kathi and two grandchildren, Ryan and Allie Smith, all of Millis and her cousin Nancy Grota of Wasilla, Alaska.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m. at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 5 from 4 - 7 p.m.
