Earlene Culpepper Hudson, 91, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, October 1, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Ocilla United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating and Denise Hamby delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Hudson was born January 31, 1927, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Thomas J. “Tommy” & Zora Lee Verner Culpepper. She was a loving child of God and loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed cooking, reading and entertaining family and friends (especially her Sunday School Class). Mrs. Hudson was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church and loved her friends and neighbors of Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was married to the love of her life for over 70 years. Most of her life was dedicated to working side by side with her loving husband. In her lifetime, she worked at REA (Irwin Co. EMC), Irwin Co. Stockyard, Irwin Co. Farm Bureau, The First State Bank and part time at the Bank of Ocilla.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Hudson Csordas of Ocilla; son-in-law, Jim Carlisle of Ocilla; granddaughter: Dawn Carlisle Cruikshank & Norman of Cleveland and Heather Carlisle of Cumming; great-grandchildren: Carli Cruikshank, Collin Cruikshank and Camille Cruikshank, all of Cleveland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Othella Hudson, a daughter, Janice Hudson Carlisle and a brother, Thomas Wilburn (T.W.) (Bubba) Culpepper.
